One of the discarded designs

Along with the New Year come new challenges, new clients and exciting new projects.

I recently had a wonderful lunch with the more wonderful Jane of HFCouture to discuss one project in particular.

A few weeks ago I was approached by a young lady who produced sketches of some super 40's, 50's/retro wedding gown designs.
Jane and I sat amid the noise and clatter of Gilda's in Leeds (a super little Italian bistro/coffee shop) and poured over which designs would work for the modern bride and what type of headwear would most suit.
After much deliberation and seemingly the annoyance of the table next to us who looked most perplexed as we folded away the designs and sketch books, we settled on four suitable designs we felt would work rather well and offer the modern bride looking for a vintage twist, something a little different of that which is currently on the market.
The designer and I are due to meet this coming Saturday for a catch up and to begin bringing to life her wonderful designs. Jane will work on the headwear in preparation of the forthcoming photo shoot.
The four designs we've chosen will incorporate the use of soft flowing chiffon and satin offering a romantic feel and the more sculptured taffeta for a little more drama.
Each gown will be available on a made to measure basis direct from our website. Further announcements to follow.
What we are not aiming to do is follow in the footsteps of some of the well known designers or websites.
Our ethos is and will always remain that bespoke or made to measure is an affordable option for todays bride.
While most of our clients have a clear idea of their wedding gown and have tried similar styles to comfortably know what suits, we do have a few who have opted for our full bespoke service.
Of course, the choice of this service is reflected in the price.
While many will see this is as a 'No-Frills' type of service ie. a service or product for which the non-essential features have been removed to keep the price low, this by no means we sacrifice the quality or service of our product, your wedding gown.
What it does mean is this.
We don't employ website designers, yes it may be basic but it does what it says so to speak. We don't have super posh dress bags either (of course if you would like one we can get one at cost) as both of these services need to be paid for somewhere and that is all to often passed over to the client.
So in theory, you are getting what you've paid for. Your wedding gown, and that is it!
