This kind of falls in with a conversation I had last night with a lovely young lady who had written to me asking if I had any jobs.
Well, with the things I have planned for the New Year which include a certain bespoke jewellery maker, I very may well have.
So, Carl and I invited the lovely young lady over for a chat which lasted for well over an hour. The said young lady has heaps of experience, including a Fashion Design degree (BAhons) and experience in pattern cutting.
We talked about her role in her current job, among many things, a machine samplest and how sad she was when her lovingly made sample gets shipped off to China for manufacture and then comes back, well, not quite as lovingly reproduced!
I think in most UK industries, the product is made in China. This doesn't mean they would compromise on quality, they cannot afford to, but it would be lovely to find a UK based company who actually manufactures the product right here in the UK.
